Undetected visual defect:

Many of us have a visual problem, sometimes without even realizing it! For some, this visual deficit may be minor and barely noticeable depending on daily activities. However, for others, it is more significant, but these people, having grown accustomed to "seeing poorly," think they see well!

Extremely minor vision problems are common. The eye and brain adapt to this deficiency, which is why the vast majority go uncorrected. But most of these people suffer from side effects: headaches, concentration problems, stinging eyes...

How to know if I see poorly:

Here is a quick little test where we will ask you a few simple questions to find out if you have excellent vision or if it would be advisable to consult an ophthalmologist.

  • A. When I drive, I see road signs
  1. From a distance, I have no problem.
  2. I have to wait a bit to see them clearly.
  3. I don't see them until I'm right next to them; it's a big effort.
  • B. When reading a book or looking at my phone...:
  1. I see it well at 35-40 cm.
  2. I have to hold it further away; it's difficult for me to see it up close.
  3. I have to bring it close to my face to see properly.
  • C. When I study or spend a certain amount of time in front of a computer, when I read:
    1. I see well, but I get tired and often have headaches.
    2. I see blurry, I get tired very quickly, and working requires a lot of effort.
    3. I have no problem seeing well.
    • D. I watch television:
      1. Very close to see the screen clearly.
      2. It doesn't matter, I see well from almost anywhere.
      3. I'm not too far or too close.
      • E. When I do precision work:
        1. Generally I get headaches.
        2. I have no difficulty with vision.
        3. I have trouble seeing well up close.

        Scoring:

        • A. 1) 0 2) 2 3) 5
        • B. 1) 0 2) -5 3) 5
        • C. 1) 2 2) -5 3) 0
        • D. 1) 5 2) 0 3) 2
        • E. 1) -2 2) 0 3) -5

Results: now add or subtract the points for each answer.

If the total is negative, you have a tendency towards hyperopia, meaning you have difficulty seeing close objects. However, your eye manages to compensate for this problem, which causes headaches, eye fatigue, and often difficulty concentrating.

If the total is positive, you are probably myopic; people with myopia have difficulty seeing far away but have excellent near vision.
