The History of the Famous Ray-Ban Glasses
The brand Ray-Ban was created in 1937 by a German-born eyewear manufacturer, Bausch & Lomb.
Its origin is due to the renowned American pilot Lieutenant John Macready, who asked his optician to make a pair of "panoramic and wraparound protective" sunglasses with a lens that filters ultraviolet and infrared rays to achieve optimal comfort when exposed to the sun. The optician then designed glasses that would provide panoramic protection, which is how the famous G15 lens was born.

Subsequently, the US Air Force ordered this pair of glasses for its fighter pilots, and commercialization to the general public followed 3 years later.
Immediately adopted by many stars, in the following years, Ray-Ban glasses managed to establish themselves and become the must-have, unsurpassed worldwide, thanks to their instantly recognizable frame.
Today, nearly 80 years after the first Aviator model was commercialized, it is still in vogue and has been revisited by Luxottica, the owner of Ray-Ban since 1999. This brand is still at the top of sales in optical stores today.
Two Ray-Ban Models
Ray-Ban Aviator
This is the first Ray-Ban model ever created. It's the eyewear that launched the aviator-style glasses trend. Notably known as Michael Jackson's favorite glasses, it is one of the best-selling sunglasses models among young people and one of the most popular worldwide.

Ray-Ban Wayfarer
Appearing after the first model, this pair of glasses has established itself as the Rock Stars' eyewear. Thanks to its timeless shape, the quality of its materials (frame, lenses), and its relatively reasonable price, Ray-Ban has established itself as the best-selling sunglasses brand.
