Work tools are no longer the same as they were 10-15 years ago. Paper documents have been replaced by screens, leading to a change in our lifestyle and consumption habits. Today, each French household has an average of 6 screens: combining phones, computers, televisions, tablets, and e-readers. The use of these causes a variation of symptoms on vision known as: computer vision syndrome (CVS), the syndrome linked to working on screens.
Eye discomfort is increasingly present in individuals and is becoming a source of malaise and unproductivity at work: back pain, headaches, stiff neck, depression, loss of concentration, stinging eyes...
To reduce this visual discomfort, there are a few tips, including eye exercises as well as optical equipment: computer glasses or "Cool Blue" anti-blue light glasses.
Eye Exercises
The muscles around the eyes can lose their effectiveness, especially when working in front of screens. There are visual exercises that can relieve eye strain; here are 5 effective and quick tips:
The pencil:
Extend your index finger or a pencil, in front of your face, at eye level, with your arm extended, and fix your gaze on it. Without ever stopping staring at your index finger or pencil, exhale and bring it closer to your nose. As you inhale, slowly move it away as far as your arm allows, continuing to fix your gaze on it. Slowly repeat this back and forth motion 25 times, at the rhythm of your breathing.
Palming:
Place your palms over your eyes, cupping them. Your fingers should be close together so as not to let light through. Your eyes are at rest, closed, behind your palms. Rest for one minute.
The infinity:
With your eyes open and relaxed, and your head still, trace the infinity sign several times with your eyes. All in one smooth movement without pausing.
The white lines:
Take your book and read – not the printed lines – but the white lines between the text.
Blinking:
Blink your eyes for 30 seconds, exaggerating the movement. This activates the lacrimal glands, which will produce tears and moisturize the eye.
Cool Blue Treatment
The "Cool Blue" treatment offered by Varionet filters harmful artificial blue light emitted by digital screens (approximately 35%). This helps combat back pain, stiff neck, dry eyes... but also against AMD, central vision loss.
This anti-blue light treatment helps restore visual comfort in front of screens while preserving your eyesight.
